Our History... Our Journey

All for Jesus started as a home Bible Study group in 1987. As the group started to grow, they decided to rent the Scouts Hall in McCracken Ave, Pascoe Vale in November 1988. The group met every Saturday night, whilst at the same time, each family continued attending their own Sunday fellowship group. But the Saturday group grew in numbers and through prayer and guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Sunday fellowship servicestarted in December 1988. The All For Jesus Evangelistic Association, Inc. was born. From December 1998 until March 1996, Lito Cruz served as the head Pastor.
In April 1996, interim leadership in Pascoe Vale was given to Buddy Abadilla. The groupwent through diffi cult periods…events beyond their control. During this time, several people helped in the rebuilding process: Rene Saquing, Pastor Mario Francisco. “Back to God’s Word” was the focus and a solid foundation in Christ Jesus and His Word was established. All the glory belongs to God for He has helped AFJ go through those trying times and they emerged victorious in Jesus. In 1998, Buddy Abadilla served as full-time Pastor in Pascoe Vale. Fred Raner continued to pastor Western AFJ. AFJ also re-established links with AOG.
“We have crossed the hanging bridge.” These words were impressed in the heart of Tess Abadilla in September 1998. Challenges and testings will always be part of church growth but with God’s help, God’s people will be more than conquerors in Christ Jesus (Roman 8:1).
In 1999, the words “Run… focussing only on Jesus…God will send the workers” were given to Pastor Buddy and Tess. In that year, there was a steady growth in numbers of new members and new babies as well. The outpouring of God’s Spirit also came down on the Youth Group and this has resulted in the start of a monthly overnight prayer meeting in 30 April 1999. This year saw a focus on becoming a praying & worshipping church.
In November 2000, God gave His vision for AFJ to Pastor Buddy & Tess: “BUILDING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION” Every Member a Disciple… Passion for Jesus Every Member a Missionary… Passion for the Lost.
As Pastor Buddy wrote: “We can always talk about the past (our achievements, difficulties, etc.), but what is more important now is to look to the future and what we can do to build God’s Kingdom in the years to come.” This vision has been confi rmed during a missionary trip in the Philippines (January – February 2001). 2001 is a year of Vision Preparation. In March 2001, the Eastern cell group was formed. In August 2001, the Wyndham cell group was established. Missions became a stronger focus with a missionary sent to the Philippines in April for 4 months.
2002 and beyond is Vision Implementation- JUST DO GOD’S PLAN FOR US. In 2002, AFJ transitioned to a Cell-based structure as it focussed on “Extending the Tent”. A Cell-based Church is the key in evangelising the world for Jesus.
In 2010, we have entered a new season. A new name was given by God… Connect City Church and He has extended our tent globally… Connect City Church Australia and Connect City Church Philippines. As Pastor Buddy wrote: “We believe in God’s promises. We believe that He will fulfill His vision for CCC…it is going to happen. But every member must have a burning desire in one’s heart for the vision to be fulfi lled and the key is prayer and a revived heart. Our hearts need to be focussed on Jesus, our Savior and Lord. As a church, let us focus on the eternal things of God and also be excited on the things that God will do in our fellowship in this generation and in the future generations. Hallelujah!”
